What
is a fanlisting?
A fanlisting
is a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor/actress, singer,
etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around
the world who are fans of that subject. For more info on fanlistings, go to
The Fanlistings.org.
This particular
fanlisting is for those who are fans of the Arcadia album So Red the Rose.

to know more about So Red the Rose?
The
year was 1985. Duran Duran had just experienced the biggest success of their
existence with the album Seven & the Ragged Tiger, when the band decided
to splinter for solo projects. Vocalist Simon le Bon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes
and drummer Roger Taylor banded together to form Arcadia, named after a mythological
place known to ancient Greeks as 'Heavenly Paradise'.
Arcadia's
campaign began with the release of a special 12" Cryptic Mix of Election
Day, minus most of Simon's vocals. This mix was released in total secrecy to
clubs throughout the UK; this release was so secret that it had no labelled
information, no B-side, just the Arcadia 'Cryptic' Logo. This mix was eventually
released as a special Limited Edition.
The commercially
available Election Day was released in October 1985, and reached an
impressive No.7 in the UK charts. The video was shot in Paris and was directed
by Roger Christian (who designed the set for Star Wars) and included the model
Violetta, who featured on the cover of So Red The Rose.
December 1985 saw
the release of their debut album So Red The Rose which had stunning artwork
done by Tony Viramontes.
The filming of
The Promise took place on the Cote D'Azur during December 1985 and was directed
by Marcelo Anciano. The single was released the following month and reached
No.37 in the UK charts.
The filming of
Goodbye Is Forever took place in and around London during January 1986
and was also directed by Marcelo Anciano. The premise was a carnival funhouse
gone psychedelic. It was during this time that Roger decided to give up the music business entirely and left Nick and Simon to continue on as a duo.
The Flame
was filmed in the London Docklands during April 1986 and was directed by an
old favorite of theirs, Russell Mulcahy. The video was given a 1940's Alfred
Hitchcock feel and style. The video featured a cameo appearance by Duran bassist,
John Taylor. The single was released in July 1986 and reached a disappointing
No.58..
